Methyl-β-cyclodextrin, however, is a highly efficient viscosity inhibitor. Polyurethane thickeners require only 7% M-β-CD to reduce the system’s viscosity to 2000 mPa·s, meeting usage requirements. This efficiency surpasses that of 10% ethylene glycol.
Research indicates that M-β-CD can maintain the stability of color dispersions without the need for additional components or dispersants. It also improves the compatibility of incompatible surfactants, overcoming adverse water sensitivity and foaming issues. Moreover, it enhances the compatibility of colorants without the need for additional surfactants.
